Films & Stories

Upon retiring from M.I.T., I took up the hobby of movie-making. I began by making movies of international travel experiences. Later I made a movie of my brother's running of the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon (which eventually was broadcast on TV!). More recently, I made a promotional video for each of two woman-led non-profit organizations. Below is a list of most of these videos. You can access them by clicking on the link below each description. I hope you enjoy them.

France 2019

To celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, we took a fabulous 3-week driving tour of southern France. We visited Avignon, San Remy, Pierrevere and Paris. We had a great time.

Buenos Aires 2019

Cuba 2017

Taking advantage of a rare window in the decades-long embargo prohibiting U.S. tourists, we put together a 10-day driving tour of Cuba. Daughter JeanMarie went along as our interpreter.

Ireland 2014

A driving tour of southern Ireland. Two weeks of unusually good weather full of scenery, history, music and pubs. Arguably the best trip we've ever taken.

African Safari 2012

After meeting up with our peripatetic daughter JeanMarie in Zimbabwe, we went on a bare-bones safari, i.e. pitch-your-own-tent, sleep-on-the-ground, listen-to-sounds-of-big-animals-outside-your-tent. Memorable.

Running Big — Original Length

Arguably my only "real" movie... Running Big.

In 2015, my brother "Buck" (Alan) at the age of 64, announced that he would try to run the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon, a.k.a. "The Double", a feat that involves running a half-marathon (13.1 mi) from the small town of Manitou Springs (6,000 ft) to the summit of Pikes Peak (14,000 ft) on one day, then on the very next day, running a full-marathon (26.2 mi.) to the summit and back. I undertook to film the event.

The movie was eventually accepted in the IndyFest film festival where it won the Audience Award.

Humor

Hog Story — Halloween Story

On two separate occasions, I attended a storytelling conference in upstate New York with friends Craig and Mary Humphrey. On both occasions, Craig kindly "volunteered" me to tell a story of growing up on a farm in Indiana.
